Wouldn’t it be great to combine baseball and camping all in one place? Well at Hoffman Park in River Falls Wisconsin you can do just that. This small college town makes a great place to stay awhile and enjoy these favorite summer pastimes.

Hoffman Park Campground

Finding a great, family friendly place to camp is not always easy. Especially when you also want one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. City Parks are some of our favorite places to stay because they are both family friendly and inexpensive. Hoffman Park in River Falls Wisconsin is a great location, it’s convenient to get in and out of St. Paul/Minneapolis, yet far enough you get a good rate as well as a peaceful camping experience.

Don’t you love when you get a great deal and have a wonderful experience? Well if you do then I highly recommend staying at Hoffman Park. Whether you want to visit St. Paul/Minneapolis or just want a quiet park to go camping, this place is perfect for both.

Campground Amenities

They have RV parking and tent camping available. There is water for filling your tank, electric at each RV site, and an easy access dump station. The tent sites are separate from the RV sites, but tents can stay at the electric sites if available. No reservations are accepted so get there early. It was full a few times while we were staying, but at least a few sites remained available most of the time.

Several playgrounds are located around the park. The main one is very well done and has some really cool custom features your kids are sure to enjoy. Many large grassy areas to run, volleyball nets, frisbee golf, and a skate track are just some of the other features that make this a great family camping spot. Have I mentioned the great shower? Yes, there is only one, but it’s big, clean, and the water is hot.

This campground has lots to offer, but perhaps the best thing is combining two of summers favorite pastimes; baseball and camping! There are several baseball diamonds around the park and games or practices going on regularly. We were able to walk right across the camp to watch the games. They are free and very family friendly.

Enjoy Some Baseball and Camping in River Falls

Take some time to enjoy the Fighting Fish game while staying at Hoffman Park. The seating is mostly shaded and they even have an upper level with picnic tables. If you want to get something from the concession stand you will be pleased at the reasonable prices.

Each game we attended seemed to have something extra going on. One evening they were giving away free cookies and Rice Krispies Treats made from a local company called Best Maid Cookies. They also have an outlet in town where you can buy these delicious treats. Fifty Fifty raffles were held where the winner got half the money and the rest went to various charities, it was different each time. We even got a firework show right over the campground one night after the game.

Watching the kids run after foul balls that make it over the net is fun all in itself. They get a piece of candy for returning the balls to the concession stand. Our kids retrieved several of these foul balls. They decided to keep one and got all the players from the Fighting Fish team to sign it for them. After every game they let all the kids down on the field to run the bases and give them a high five. It is great family fun. Plus who doesn’t love some baseball and camping with the family during the summer?

The City of River Falls Wisconsin

Even if you’re not interested in watching a baseball game this town makes a great place to stay. There are two grocery stores for stocking up on food. Two laundromats in town, one that’s open twenty four hours, make this chore quick and easy to get out of the way. Gas stations, auto part stores, and restaurants make this the perfect choice.

This small town community does something called blue bikes. This is a service where they provide free bikes to borrow for up to twenty four hours. There are bikes of all sizes available. They even keep them on a bike rack right next to the baseball field with a fixing station attached. Such a great community to provide something like this. We have not seen this anywhere else on our travels so far to over 40 states. I hope this is something more communities will adopt in the future.

Summer is a Great Time for Baseball and Camping

River Falls Wisconsin is a wonderful small town with an excellent sense of community. The whole town feels family oriented. Their park was awesome, not only combining baseball and camping, but making us feel welcome. There were so many family’s out enjoying Hoffman park and it’s many options.

Everyday we spent here we saw people in the park. Enjoying birthday parties, picnics, Frisbee golf, the playgrounds, and of course, baseball and camping. There was even a little free library where we were able to trade out some old books for new books. These are great for those of us that live in our RV’s. The park is large and safe. You won’t feel crowded in the sites. It makes a great location for exploring the city without having to stay in it. Thank you River Falls for giving our family a great summer baseball and camping experience.
